Built in the 1938, this neo-classical building it’s situated in a protected area in the center of Bucharest. It was bought by a private Dutch investor which started the consolidation with care.

The purpose of this entire renovation was to create luxury apartments, and in the same time to keep the spirit of the historical building present.

The owner approached Iulia Iuga-Dohmen to create the interior design of the apartments to be suitable for our contemporary times. The request was to make the interiors with high quality materials, to be comfortable, pleasant and special.

Some rooms by default had more natural light than others, so the main challenge was to make the interior space look larger and more open.

Because of the consolidation, the interior actual partitioning changed compared to the initial state. This allowed Iulia to create new layouts for the entire floors.

Of course, there were many constraints like plenty of beams, diverse wall angles and architectural restrictions. But all this didn’t stop Iulia to create a welcoming and functional interior in a modern style with neo-classical influences.

For a luxury feeling, Iulia proposed premium finishes such as natural wooden floor, exotic wall panels and wall mouldings.

Because the details make the difference, you can notice them in the modern fireplace, curved ceiling, contemporary lamps, and art.

The golden accents from the lamps, chairs and table dress the interior as if they were jewelleries.

The clean, airy, and stylish kitchen was extended to be used as a bar for the dining area.

Warm, chic, and comfortable, the bedrooms are dressed in beautiful wallpaper and wooden panels, making sure that the atmosphere is very relaxing.

Regarding the façade, Iulia had to transformed it, to revive it. She had to keep the original look and feel, but at the same time to make it glow, to be sophisticated in an elegant manner.

So, besides adding more lively color, she proposed warm lights, like spots, wall lamps and LED strips. These would highlight the architectural forms and would play with lights and shadows.
