Urban Blue with a Lemon Twist
The apartment, located in an old block of flats in Bucharest, was taken over in an advanced state of decay. The walls were crooked, the ceilings uneven, the height was low, and the natural light was insufficient. The space needed not only an aesthetic intervention, but a careful reconstruction, almost from scratch.
One of the important decisions was the elimination of a window in the living room, made by the former owner and positioned unnaturally. Through this intervention, we completely reconfigured the main wall and created a coherent TV area, with a more intimate atmosphere. In parallel, we completely replaced the electrical and sanitary installations, as well as the carpentry, to bring the home to current safety and comfort standards.
Although the apartment has a small surface area, we managed to integrate numerous storage spaces, created through custom furniture, designed specifically for the needs of the beneficiaries. Every centimeter was effectively utilized, without visually burdening the space. Furthermore, we transformed the former storage room into a fully functional laundry room, thus optimizing the organization of the home and eliminating dead zones.
The owners had a clear vision from the beginning: a welcoming, modern, easy-to-maintain home, made with durable and carefully selected materials.
The chosen style is modern-contemporary, with urban-industrial accents. The exposed concrete in the living room, the black light fixtures, the printed glass and the graphic details in the kitchen add personality and visual strength. The color palette gravitates around grays and navy blue, balanced by warm beige accents, to keep the atmosphere comfortable and sophisticated.
The child’s room, with a football theme, was designed as a surprise until the moment of moving in — a space full of energy, but aesthetically integrated into the overall concept.
It was a challenging project, because the transformation involved both correcting structural imperfections and redefining the identity of the space. The result is an apartment that not only looks new, but also functions like new.
